Signs and Wonders

I believe in signs and wonders. I have always wanted to see the miraculous things the Apostles and Jesus did while they were here on Earth like healing people and even raising the dead back to life. I have not seen those kinds of incredible signs but I have seen some other signs. People who don’t believe in God call these strange occurrences coincidences, but I have seen too many of them now to remain ignorant to the fact that God is real and He reveals Himself to people who diligently seek Him and even the people zealously trying to disprove His existence.

Some of the ways God let’s me know of His presence is with numbers. I used to be into numerology before I found out it was an ungodly practice, but God used my knowledge and love of numbers to start communicating with me. I have always been a numbers person and I now feel I am in order for God to communicate with me easily. This is one of the unique methods in which God communicates with me. “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13. For instance, I will see repetitious numbers while I’m driving, on my phone, on the clock, speedometer, license plates, etc. He will also communicate with me by using certain numbers that have different meanings.

Another way God shows me signs is through symbolism. I used to be obsessed with figuring out what it meant when I saw certain animals or plants. I felt like something was trying to communicate with me and for the longest time, I didn’t believe it was God because I didn’t think I was that important to Him. But, as the signs kept getting more frequent and continued over time, I realized that it was God communicating with me and felt so blessed to know that the King of the Universe would send me these signs to let me know He’s there. “As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on Him.” Matthew 3:16.

There are still times when I question whether or not these signs come from God. It says in 2 Thessalonians 2:9: “The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.” It alarmed me because I thought it could be a deceitful spirit messing with me. However, over time I’ve realized that some of the things God talks to me about or shows me get reiterated in various places to reassure me that it is Him talking to me or showing the sign. God has been very gracious and patient with me because I have dealt with a lot of deceitful people in the past. As far as I know, I am the first and only person in my family who talks to God. My church family at Ardent Church in Red Oak assured me I wasn’t crazy and God actually talks back to those who seek Him. I felt relieved to know that I was perfectly sane and actually talking to God. “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He rewards those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6.

My experience with signs and wonders from God will most likely be different from other people’s experiences. We are all unique and God reaches each of us in unique ways that might not make sense to other people. If there is something in your life that you have seen that you can’t explain, it might be God trying to talk to you. If you want to seek God to know Him, He will reveal Himself to you in time with various signs and wonders. Seek Him. He’s worth it.
