Trusting In God

There is something that has been on my heart to write about and that is trusting in God. I have had a hard time coming to terms with trusting in someone I can’t see, trusting that He will make all things right and deliver me into my dream job, writing. I have been told God always provides a way. Sometimes it’s not when we want it to but it always comes when we least expect it or need it most. Proverbs 3:5, 6 says: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.”

Countless times, God has come through for me even before I started talking to Him and following Him. He’s provided for me when there was no way but I still struggle with trusting Him. I have had a lot of people in my life who have let me down and I think I have a hard time believing that God can be any different. I think this will be the time that He will let me down and leave me. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6. No matter how dire the situation may be, God does it for us to build trust in Him. People may let us down from time to time but God never will.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28. I’m starting to see that writing is a gift that God has given me to reach people about Him. Many people have told me that they can’t write and I have a gift. Writing has always come easy to me and I always assumed that others could write just as good as I can. Sometimes, I don’t think much of what I write until I hear someone tell me how good it is and that what I’ve written has made a difference in their lives. Sometimes the hardest thing we can do is trust in God and believe in ourselves at the same time. Life gets messy but God never leaves us to fend for ourselves, especially when we’re carrying out His will.

The best thing we can do is follow God’s plan for our lives and believe that He knows what He’s doing when it come to pruning us, squeezing us and shaping us for the better. The pruning isn’t easy and it often hurts but if we want to grow into a beautiful rose bush, sometimes God has to prune and cut off branches that don’t bear any fruit in order for us to become more fruitful. Trusting in God isn’t always easy but it is certain that He will always come through on His time and not ours.
