How do you come face to face with the Creator of the Universe? It sounds pretty intimidating until you actually get to know the personality and character of God. God doesn’t want you to be paralyzed in fear by Him. God wants respect and reverence in how you approach Him, just as anyone in a position of power should receive. I heard in church yesterday about a saying: Coram Deo, which is a Latin phrase that simply means in the face of God. It also sums up Christian living as being in the presence of God, under the authority of God and doing everything for the honor and glory of God. So how exactly can you come face to face with God without actually seeing a physical face?
I start off my day by waking up early and reading devotionals while giving thanks to God for another day. I don’t do it every morning and when I don’t, I notice it’s harder to walk like Christ. My attitude towards everything is not very Christ-like and I find myself being more carnally-minded than when I start my day off by seeking God’s face or spirit. “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13. There are different ways of worshipping Him that are too many to name or count.
Anything you do for the glory of God is an act of worship. You can clean your house, take care of your kids, excel at your job, and so much more than just getting down on your hands and knees praising God all day. In fact, God doesn’t want people down on their hands and knees all day getting nothing done. God is a God of action and as much as He appreciates people being on their hands and knees in thanks and reverence, He only wants it when someone is being absolutely sincere in prostrating themselves to Him. He can see our hearts and whether or not His blessings have actually brought us to the point of collapsing on our knees in praise of His amazing works in our lives.
God loves sincerity more than show. Anything we do in our daily lives can be for the glory of God, especially everyday things that have to be done and are already a part of our daily routine. Does anyone have a boss, parent, or loved one who is impossible to please? Don’t complete a task for them. Instead, do it for God and you will know that what He sees you do will be rewarded by Him saying well done or disbursed in blessings of different sorts. It also makes it easier and more fulfilling to accomplish a task knowing that our heavenly Father is much better at rewarding us and congratulating us than our earthly parents and bosses can. “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" Luke 11:13.
I can tell you that I have actually tried to close my eyes and seek His face for a while and I’ve heard about people who have had dreams of Jesus that aren’t even Christian. But, so far, I have yet to see God face to face but I think the signs and wonders that God performs for me daily, like the sun coming out on a cloudy day as I’m finishing this article as well as seeing other signs, are ways of seeing God face to face for me and for other people too. Don’t lose heart if God doesn’t talk to you or reveal Himself to you yet. He wants you to diligently seek Him and then He will reward you with His presence, His peace, and His guidance."But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." - Hebrews 11:6.
