I have come to find that when I am very close to achieving a huge breakthrough in life, distractions always seem to come up and grab my attention away from the important task I'm trying to accomplish. Breakthroughs and distractions go hand in hand, especially when you are a child of God, which is someone everyone is whether they acknowledge it or not. Distractions aren't necessarily bad or evil but they seem to come at the worst time when you are trying to start something important.
I've had writer's block for the last week after taking a week off. After writing a few articles that fell through, I've just now had the ability to rouse myself up from the disappointments and distractions to sit down and write this article. It's a topic that has been relating to me the last couple of weeks and is something I know a lot about from personal experience. "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." 1 Corinthians 10:13. Always remember that the enemy is the one who puts it into your head that you don't have enough time.
Some ways to get away from the distractions and focus on God is to get away from people, TV, etc. and go somewhere quiet to sit and talk to God, otherwise known as praying. You would be surprised how little time it takes to start focusing on what you need to do when you give God your undivided attention. I find it best to go to the park and stay away from the comfort of home. Sometimes it can turn into some sort of comfortable prison where I lose all focus and even start to feel like I'm stuck and can't leave. I get anxiety and depression very easily when I take my focus off of the Holy Spirit and what He wants me to do. I used to be on medication for anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder but since I've turned my life over to God's will, I haven't needed any medication and haven't had any severe meltdowns, panic attacks, or weeks of depressions in over a year since I started my walk with the Holy Spirit. He is the Mighty Counselor and Excellent Father that anyone can turn to when experiencing difficulties in life.
"Rejoice in the Lord Always. Again I say rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, giving thanks, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent and worthy of praise, meditate on these things." - Phillipians 4:4-8
You will always find friction when you are working on bettering yourself in some way or another. When you're close to a breakthrough, arguments between loved ones break out, people and their agendas disappoint or take advantage of you, and things just go wrong in general. It's easy to get anxious and depressed when you take your eyes off of God and the hardest part is focusing on something you can't see or even physically feel. "So we fix our eyes on not on what is seen, but on what is unseens, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." -2 Corinthians 4:18. When you can accomplish the task of focusing on and talking to our Creator, life starts to get a whole lot easier and breakthroughs start to take place. There is always time to talk to God.
I've heard a saying that doing the hard things in life makes life easy and doing the easy things in life makes life hard. This life is not meant to just sit around watching Netflix all day when you're not working. It is meant to be lived by making your life a better show than any show they have on Netflix. Slow progress is still progress. Strive to push yourself a little farther each day and start talking to God in the mornings before doing anything else.
